Course reflections.
Class Outcomes
As a result of this class, I learn about the importance of the National Educational Technology Plan as well as the Texas Log-Range Plan for Technology. These two plans are the basis school districts ans any other entity involved with education should use as a basis to establish, monitor and follow up any technology plan. The use of information data based informed decisions are crucial to ensure we can take the right decisions. Trough this class also, I became aware of the different competencies technology facilitators are supposed to master in order to have an effective leadership related to the implementation of technology in the classroom. Finally three main points I like much from this class: the importance of promoting our students to become 21th century learners through the use of technology is something I am understanding much more than ever before, the establishment of learners communities trough the internet and the analysis of the legal implication of this are a great contribution I am getting from this class.
Outcomes Relevancy to My Job
Because of all I have learned from this class during the last five weeks, I consider myself more competent to perform my job, to make a difference in my students lives and to help my colleagues as a team to accomplish their jobs better. One of the areas that where I have learned more from this class is the one related to the leadership technology facilitators should have and how to implement this leadership to help students and staff to achieve academically and to become 21th century learners. Also, because we have students which lives are surrounded completely by technology, is is crucial to modify traditional instruction to implement technology and engage and motivate students to learn. Finally, to know about the national, state and even my own school district technology plans has make me more aware about the importance of implementing technology in our classroom and help our students to become critical thinkers and problem solvers.
Outcomes not achieved
I would not say that I did not achieve something in particular; what I think is something I want to know more is about the ISTE standards and the activities I would be performing during my internship. According with my site mentor and according with the knowledge I have, we have created and acceptable plan for my internship but it is still something I want to know more about. How to evaluate and follow up with these eight competencies as a technology facilitator as well as the competencies we need to evaluate in our students are other areas where I want to get more in deep and become more competent.
Assignments Success
I consider that I was able to accomplish my assignments objectives in a satisfactory way. There is always something to improve but I feel myself happy about the grades but specially about the outcomes of my time dedicated to create assigned assignments. One area that I want to improve is the usage of APA style citation to accomplish assignments expectations 100%. This was the are where more comments of improvement I had in my weekly assignments. I see forward to continue with the program and learn more and improve my APA citation skills.
Self Learning
When I was a nine years old boy, I was in second grade and I had the wonderful experience of meeting with some people from Apple Computers when they were just trying to introduce their new product among schools' students and staff members.. They were basically showing us what a computer was and how they were revolutionizing the industry by creating a desktop computer that was pretty different from what a computer was in those days. I remember I stood all day long asking, playing and learning, At the end of the day, I learned all the basic of how to program using the computer language BASIC. Since that day, I knew computers and technology were going to be something important in my life. The most important thing I have got from this LAMAR masters degree program and from this first class is the reinforcement of that technology leadership I got since I was nine years old and computers were just a dream of what computers are today.
